Florida's coastline and the South Florida yacht market generate sustained demand for operators who can secure HNW principals on the water. Prior military maritime, Coast Guard, Navy, or commercial maritime security experience is preferred.
Florida has one of the largest concentrations of private yachts and waterfront estates in the world. HNW principals who travel by vessel need the same level of protection on the water as they do on land, and the maritime environment introduces variables that land-based operators do not encounter: limited egress, port security protocols, international waters jurisdiction, and the physical challenges of operating on a moving platform. Praetorian covers maritime security for clients across Florida and needs operators who are comfortable and competent in this environment.
Vessel Protection

What Maritime Security Looks Like
A maritime detail might start with a security assessment of the vessel and docking location, coordination with the yacht captain and crew, and a threat briefing for the transit route. Onboard, the operator manages access control, monitors the surrounding water traffic, coordinates with port authorities at each stop, and maintains a protective posture that does not disrupt the principal's experience. For longer voyages, operators rotate shifts and maintain communications with the land-based security team. The work requires seamanship, patience, and the ability to operate effectively in a confined environment.
Who We Hire for Maritime Roles
Navy veterans, Coast Guard veterans, Marine Corps operators with amphibious or waterborne experience, and civilian maritime security professionals with prior yacht or vessel protection work. Commercial maritime credentials are a plus. Operators must be comfortable on the water for extended periods, physically capable of boarding and working on vessels in varied conditions, and able to coordinate with civilian yacht crews who may have no security experience.

What maritime experience does Praetorian require?
Navy, Coast Guard, or Marine Corps waterborne operations are the strongest backgrounds. Commercial maritime security experience and prior yacht protection work also qualify. The key requirement is proven comfort and competence operating on the water.
