Praetorian Executive Protection LLC is hiring maritime and yacht security operators for vessel protection, port security, and marina operations across Florida. Florida's coastline and the South Florida yacht market generate sustained demand for operators who can secure HNW principals on the water. Prior military maritime, Coast Guard, Navy, or commercial maritime security experience is preferred.
Florida has one of the largest concentrations of private yachts and waterfront estates in the world. HNW principals who travel by vessel need the same level of protection on the water as they do on land, and the maritime environment introduces variables that land-based operators do not encounter: limited egress, port security protocols, international waters jurisdiction, and the physical challenges of operating on a moving platform.
Praetorian covers maritime security for clients across Florida and needs operators who are comfortable and competent in this environment.
Vessel Protection
Onboard security for private yachts and chartered vessels. Access control, passenger screening, crew coordination, and continuous protective coverage during transit.
Port and Marina Security
Securing docking locations, coordinating with harbormaster and port authority, managing embarkation and disembarkation, and monitoring the dock environment.
Anti-Piracy Awareness
Threat assessment for international and offshore routes, piracy risk mitigation planning, and coordination with maritime law enforcement where applicable.

What Maritime Security Looks Like
A maritime detail might start with a security assessment of the vessel and docking location, coordination with the yacht captain and crew, and a threat briefing for the transit route. Onboard, the operator manages access control, monitors the surrounding water traffic, coordinates with port authorities at each stop, and maintains a protective posture that does not disrupt the principal's experience.
For longer voyages, operators rotate shifts and maintain communications with the land-based security team. The work requires seamanship, patience, and the ability to operate effectively in a confined environment.
Who We Hire for Maritime Roles
Navy veterans, Coast Guard veterans, Marine Corps operators with amphibious or waterborne experience, and civilian maritime security professionals with prior yacht or vessel protection work. Commercial maritime credentials are a plus.
Operators must be comfortable on the water for extended periods, physically capable of boarding and working on vessels in varied conditions, and able to coordinate with civilian yacht crews who may have no security experience.
Florida's Maritime Security Market
South Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach) is the epicenter of the U.S.
yacht market. The Florida Keys, Tampa Bay, and the Space Coast also generate demand.
Principals with waterfront estates often require integrated maritime and residential security. Praetorian operates across all of these markets and deploys operators to both domestic and international maritime engagements.

Questions About This Role
What maritime experience does Praetorian require?
Navy, Coast Guard, or Marine Corps waterborne operations are the strongest backgrounds. Commercial maritime security experience and prior yacht protection work also qualify. The key requirement is proven comfort and competence operating on the water.
Does Praetorian handle international maritime security?
Yes. Some engagements involve international voyages with port calls outside the United States. International maritime work requires additional vetting and may involve coordination with in-country security resources.
Do I need a TWIC card?
A Transportation Worker Identification Credential is strongly preferred for port access. If you do not have one, you must be eligible and willing to obtain it.
Are maritime assignments seasonal?
Florida's yacht season peaks from October through May, but HNW principals with waterfront estates and private vessels generate year-round demand. Operators with strong performance records work consistently.
This position is a W-2 employment role with Praetorian Executive Protection LLC. The role is subject to standard payroll withholdings and company-provided insurance coverage. This classification is required under Fla. Stat. § 493.6301(4), which provides that a Class D licensee shall own or be an employee of a Class B security agency.
- Active Florida Class D license, and Class G for armed assignments, or willingness to obtain
- Standard payroll withholdings (federal income tax, FICA, Medicare)
- Company-provided workers' compensation and general liability coverage during assigned duties
- Duty equipment and required credentials issued or authorized by the agency
- I-9 verification, background check, and FDACS fingerprinting as required by Chapter 493
- Reported to the Florida State Directory of New Hires within 20 days of hire
